Proper storage is what keeps a research peptide stable and usable. Requirements differ before and after reconstitution.
Lyophilized (powder) storage
Sealed, freeze-dried vials are the most stable form. Store them cold and protected from light; long-term, −20 °C is standard. In this state peptides remain stable for extended periods.
Reconstituted (liquid) storage
Once mixed with bacteriostatic water, keep the vial refrigerated (2–8 °C) and protected from light, and use it within the timeframe appropriate for your research protocol. The benzyl alcohol in bacteriostatic water suppresses bacterial growth to support multi-draw use.
Best practices
- Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of reconstituted material.
- Swirl, never shake — agitation can degrade the peptide.
- Keep vials out of direct light and away from heat.
- Label reconstituted vials with the date and concentration.
