Two laboratories, two methods
We do not use a single lab, because the two tests that matter answer different questions.
Vanguard Laboratory — ISO 17025:2017 accredited
An independent analytical laboratory in Olympia, Washington, accredited under A2LA certificate #6377.01.01 to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 — the international standard for the competence of testing laboratories. Accreditation means an outside body has audited their methods, equipment calibration and staff competence, not merely that they own a chromatograph. They report chromatographic purity and net quantity by HPLC-UV/VIS, each with a stated measurement uncertainty, which is what a result means when you can put a number on its error.
Freedom Diagnostics — purity plus identity by mass
An independent US laboratory reporting HPLC-UV purity together with LC-MS identity confirmation. That second test is the one that catches a substituted or mislabelled product: it confirms by mass that the vial contains the compound named on the label, not simply that whatever is in there is pure. Their certificates carry the raw chromatogram and the mass spectrum, so the peak can be read directly rather than taken on trust.
Every certificate states which laboratory produced it, and its lot number. Neither lab is owned by, affiliated with, or paid per-result by Miami Peptide Lab, and both publish their own contact details on the certificate so a result can be verified with them directly.
What actually gets measured
- Identity — confirms the vial contains the compound on the label. Measured by mass spectrometry, this is the test that catches substitution.
- Purity — the percentage of the sample that is the target compound, by HPLC. Published lots currently measure 98.62–99.97% against a 99% release target.
- Net content — the actual mass in the vial against the labelled mass, so an underfilled vial is visible rather than assumed.
We publish the lots that miss the target
Our release target is 99%+ purity. It is a target, not a guarantee about every vial, and we publish the measured figure either way — including the lots that come in under it. A supplier whose published range never dips below its own standard is either extraordinarily lucky or only publishing the flattering results. What does ISO 17025 accreditation actually mean?
ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard for the competence of testing laboratories. Accreditation means an independent body has audited the lab's methods, equipment calibration and staff competence and issued a certificate against it — in this case A2LA #6377.01.01. It is a materially stronger claim than a lab simply asserting it tests to a standard.
Why use two laboratories instead of one?
Because purity and identity are different questions. Purity tells you what fraction of the sample is the target compound; identity confirms by mass that the compound is the one on the label. A sample can be 99% pure and still be the wrong molecule. Running both means neither failure mode goes unseen.
